A new Ace Hardware is moving into a vacant Union storefront. The Cotton family, which owns 12 Ace stores, recently bought the 22,000 square-foot building at 1550 Denmark Road from Legends Bank for $900,000. The bank took over the building, which was originally an Ashley Furniture and became Johnny's Crazy Deals furniture in 2017. Tim Cotton, who owns the Ace franchises with his siblings and father, Bill, said Union was a natural fit because it lacks an Ace store, while Washington and St. Clair both have them. And Cotton's Ace Hardware has been moving in this direction with locations in Cuba, Eureka and De Soto. "That's one of the things that we look for are towns that are under served," Tim Cotton said. In an email sent to WXII 12 News, the company said that 'a handful of associates have reported that they have contracted COVID-19.' U.S. furniture key sources post 6% growth

HIGH POINT — Consumer spending on furniture and bedding was up 2.8% in 2019, and four of the companies on Furniture Today's Key Sources for the U.S. Furniture Market performed above that threshold. The list grew revenues by 6%, reaching $12.1 billion in 2019, and two companies saw double-digit percentage gain in U.S. sales. RHF Investments had the largest percentage gain year-over-year, a tremendous growth of 25.6%, going from an estimated $195 million in 2018 to $245 million in 2019. The second largest percentage increase in 2019 came from Ashley Furniture Industries, with a 13% increase to $6,436 billion. Portales couple indicted charged with stealing over $100000 in furniture and home decor

PORTALES, N.M. — A Portales, New Mexico couple was indicted on various charges including larceny and possession of stolen property, according to a release from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney's Office. According to the release, Darius Vonschriltz, 25, was charged with Larceny over $20,000, Possession of Stolen Property over $20,000, Tampering with Evidence and seven counts of Disposing of Stolen Property. Kekoa Vonschriltz, 25, was charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $20,000. Darius was employed at an Ashley Furniture Store in Portales when it was determined that he had stolen over $100,000 in furniture and home decor from the store between June 2019 and March of 2020, according to the release. About $60,000 worth of property from Ashley Furniture were found in the home and storage unit of the two men. Darius faces 32 years in prison if he is convicted on all counts, and Kekoa faces nine
